Final Idea and Moodboards For Motion Graphics

Moodboard

After carrying out my research I finalised my idea. I think the most creative title sequence is Netflix’s 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'. I really like the suspect board and the aspects of filming such as the angles and swift movements I can use with this idea, plus the added element of motion graphics and animation. The show I decided to use was BBC’s 'Sherlock'. It’s my favourite series but I feel the title sequence for it is very boring. Given that Sherlock is a crime programme the idea of a suspect board works really well and ideas started flowing.

This is the moodboard I put together, Sherlock creates suspect boards in the episodes on his wall so I used the wallpaper from Sherlock’s Baker Street flat as a background, making it look like its one he has put together himself. Using images from Sherlock, still keeping with the style, for me to refer back to when creating my titles. The character of Sherlock dresses in a style that is reminiscent of the original Victorian setting of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books; despite the BBC television series set in modern London. I added clips from 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' title sequence as that is where my inspiration comes from, this was to refer to picture placement when showing actors names and typeface when recreating it. I’ve also included a picture from '13 Reasons Why' as I want to use that art style when creating the suspect board, it needs to be more than just pictures so I plan to use drawings similar to the ones from the show. It’s also a mental note as that particular clip in '13 Reasons Why' is where the wheels from the bike form the cassette tape; something I would like to try incorporating into my final outcome. This was for visual inspiration as I move on with my project.
