Case Study For RSA- Semester 2

My Research Question

How does animation grab the attention of children at school?
Aims and Objectives:
1) What sort of animation style is used for the ages 11-16
2) What grabs the attention of your average 11-16 year old student.
3) How does learning through animation differ from learning from a slideshow.
My objective for this case study, is to look into why teachers would use videos over PowerPoints, to attract the students and make them want to learn more about the subject.

Sub Questions

1) Are kids likely to pick up more aspects from an animation rather than a teacher talking to them.
2) Does Mental Health effect the focus of students at school?
3) How would an animation make these students focus entirely on the subject rather than other matters
4) Do short animations instantly attract an audience?

How am I going to implement my research

1) I plan on holding interview with my past teachers, to find out what they did to make the attention of the class their main focus.
2) Speaking to school children approaching the issue of mental health at school and how it can be distracting for them during lesson.
3) Do surveys with various questions to find out what triggers the attention of a student at school and what they would like to see, that would grab their attention.

Brief

Conceive and produce an animation to accompany one of the two selected audio files that will clarify, energise and illuminate the content. Think about the different ways that you could tell a story with your animation that will enrich the content and increase accessibility combine clarity with attention to detail and wit, aiming to make the content ‘come alive’.
