Initial Ideas
Before we looking into any branding guidelines or research we needed to have some initial ideas. We all threw together very basic drawn wire frames which we then digitalised creating a very basic idea of what we want the website to look like.
This meant we had something to show the client from the get go. We could use these initial ideas to start thinking about branding. What’s best is after doing extensive research is seeing how they then developed.
Wireframes
As we got further into the project, by week 5 we needed to present to our client where we were going with the website. After our research, fiddling around with colours and type and switching between nursery images and stock images. We had a site map and wireframes for each main page.
Each one still needed tweaking, they weren’t perfect and we needed feedback from the client before we went any further. This is the feedback we received.
"Really impressed with your team’s effort and the quality of your teams presentation."
"I think you have lots of great ideas and you have identified the key areas to focus on."
"Contrary to what I said yesterday please stick with ‘Early Start’ as this is something we are aiming towards across the board."
"We do need to change voucher approved to ‘Voucher/Funding approved’. Voucher is too restrictive and being phased out with the introduction of Tax Free Childcare."
"I like the idea of a section about the Directors. It’s been on my radar for a long time but, never quite got around to doing anything about it!"
"I have just gone through the presentation and I must say the designs look good."
"I have no other comments at this stage. I do agree there needs to be links to PDFs if prospective Clients and Clients want the full info e.g. starting Nursery etc."
Final Website Design
After getting our feedback we perfected our website designs adding as much info as we could so the developers didn’t have to worry about that. Once done we handed over the designs to the developers, still communicating, making amendments together. Still working as a team so our designs could be implemented just as we envisioned.
While the website was in the development stage they did run into some issues with coding certain design aspects of the pages. We worked with them to find a way around it while still working closely with the client to fill in any missing content. Overall the project went very well and we have a great outcome from it.
The client wanted us to create a new website that has a modern look, is appealing to their demographic audience and also reflects their culture and ethos. Working as teams alongside developers we needed to research competitors, update branding and design and create a new website with an online database.
